The old town of Estepona is made up of small streets with houses still painted with lime, and retains the shape and charm of small Andalusian villages.
Since the Town Hall began the modernisation and beautification work in 2012, no less than 120 streets have been renovated in the old town of Estepona.
The result is a magnificent renovation for the historic centre of Estepona. This part of the city is a network of narrow, white streets decorated with flowerpots.
It is a delight for the senses, allowing you to enjoy the essence of a typical Andalusian fishing village.
This is why Estepona is now known as the garden of the Costa del Sol, it is undoubtedly a unique place for all visitors.
The historic centre is best explored on foot, without rushing and without following a strict route. Around almost every corner there is a small square, a flower-covered facade, a wrought-iron balcony or a quiet terrace where you can pause for a while.
Calle Terraza, Calle Real and the lanes around Plaza de las Flores form one of the most pleasant parts of town. The area feels lively but not overwhelming, with local shops, cafes and carefully kept whitewashed houses.
Late afternoon is an especially good time to visit, when the light softens and the white facades become even brighter. It is one of the best moments to wander through old Estepona and enjoy its Andalusian atmosphere.
Plaza de las Flores, located in the heart of Estepona Old Town, is one of the most photographed corners of the city, with its peaceful atmosphere, white facades and carefully maintained floral decoration.
